SUMMARY:Capital Roots Produce Drop-Off
DESCRIPTION:Capital Roots’ Squash Hunger program is a food donation initiative that collects and distributes more than 40 tons of fresh produce to our region’s food pantries and shelters each year. The Waterford Library receives its delivery between 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. each Wednesday morning. \nSince 2004 Capital Roots has involved thousands of community members in our effort to increase the presence of fresh food on communal tables. We rely on generous gardeners\, farmers and grocery shoppers to donate fresh produce to our collection bins and on volunteers to deliver it to food pantries and shelters\, some of which feed more than 100 people three meals a day\, every day.

SUMMARY:DIY Clay Gnomes (two-part class)
DESCRIPTION:Adult class\, for ages 16+. Participants will learn to work with air-dry clay in two sessions by molding and painting miniature gnomes. A tutorial and all materials will be provided. Gnomes can be placed in flowerpots to provide company to your plants or can be used around the home as summer decor. \nJuly 24\, 6-7 pm\, sculpt the gnomes. July 31\, 6-7 pm\, paint the gnomes. \nRegistration is required. Visit us in person or call the library at (518) 237-0891 to reserve a spot. If you are unable to attend the second session\, just let the librarian know and arrange for pickup of your gnome once fully dried.

SUMMARY:Sashiko Mending Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join the library and Sarah Collen\, owner of the Troy Sew Shop\, for a hands-on workshop on sashiko! Sashiko\, meaning “little stabs” is a Japanese style of stitching. In traditional Japanese mending\, sashiko is a style of hand stitching used to repair textiles or to create layers for added warmth in working garments. It is made by creating small repeating stitches that form a pattern (often inspired by nature). Sashiko is a great way to both mend and strengthen existing wardrobe pieces and is a wonderful zero-waste sustainable practice for increasing the longevity of your items. Registration is required for this class\, as space is limited. Registration begins on July 1\, 2025. You can register by visiting us in person or calling us at (518) 237-0891. Ages 15+. \nPlease bring an article of clothing\, or a piece of fabric that you would like to stitch on. All other materials will be provided.

DESCRIPTION:Capital Roots’ Squash Hunger program is a food donation initiative that collects and distributes more than 40 tons of fresh produce to our region’s food pantries and shelters each year. The Waterford Library receives its delivery between 10:30 – 11:00 a.m. each Wednesday morning. \nSince 2004 Capital Roots has involved thousands of community members in our effort to increase the presence of fresh food on communal tables. We rely on generous gardeners\, farmers and grocery shoppers to donate fresh produce to our collection bins and on volunteers to deliver it to food pantries and shelters\, some of which feed more than 100 people three meals a day\, every day.
