K- 6th Grade:
This summer, we’re inviting kids to Unearth a Story—with books, programs, and a whole lot of dinosaurs! Our Children’s Summer Reading Program is designed to keep young readers excited, engaged, and inspired all summer long.
How it works:
Starting June 15, stop by the library to pick up your reading log. Each time you read for 15 minutes, color in a section of the dinosaur foot. Read anything you like—picture books, early readers, graphic novels, and audiobooks all count! If you are a parent of young children, reading aloud to your child will also count toward participation.
Once you complete a whole dinosaur foot (the equivalent of 1 hour of reading) you will earn 1 Dino Dollar! Dino Dollars can be saved up to purchase more expensive prizes, or can be redeemed immediately for smaller prizes. All Children’s Summer Reading prizes will be displayed in the lobby display case throughout July and August.
Key Dates:
- Register and pick up logs: Starting June 15
- Programs run: July 6 – August 12 (check out our calendar of events here for more details)
- Final day to turn in logs: September 1
Alongside reading, we’ll have weekly programs, crafts, storytimes, and special guests—all designed to celebrate adventures through reading.
So grab your reading log, fill your summer with stories, and help us Unearth a Story—one book and one Dino Dollar at a time!
7-12th Grade (Tweens/Teens):
Join the library and Unearth a Story through reading (winning fun prizes along the way).
How it works:
Starting June 15, stop by the library and pick up your reading log. You will win a prize for every three books you complete (up to 12, for a total of 4 prizes). We have quite a few exciting teen prizes up for grabs (first come, first served) which will be displayed in the display case in our lobby through July and August. Books and audiobooks both count toward your reading goal.
Key Dates:
- Register and pick up logs: Starting June 15
- Programs run: July 6 – August 12 (check out our calendar of events here for more details)
- Final day to turn in logs: September 1
