Container Gardening 101

Interested in gardening, but stumped on how to save space? Come learn the Art of container gardening! We will talk about soil, fertilizer, & watering needs, site selection, design principles, container choices, and what you can plant with this method.

This informative program will be taught by Cornell Cooperative Extension Horticulture Educator Madison Blodgett.

Vegetable Gardening Basics with Hillary Hess

Join the Waterford Library and Hillary Hess an organic farmer, gardening educator and former Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County Master Gardener Supervisor for a class on vegetable gardening! The class will cover:

  • Choosing a site
  • Types of garden beds
  • Seed starting / transplanting
  • Soil basics
  • How to choose your plants
  • Layout and planning
  • Protecting your garden from pests.
  • Supporting your plants
  • Maintaining your garden

All Students will learn practical tips and resources and will take home materials, plants and seeds. This is a free class, but registration is required to ensure we have enough space. Please call the library at (518) 237-0891 or stop by in person and add your name to the registration sheet.
